Jazzly Moné is a classically-trained violinist, from Mesa, Arizona, beginning her venture in learning alternative styles of music. Miss Moné is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Music at Arizona State University where she studies with violin professor, Dr. Katherine McLin. Going beyond the typical classical studies of her fellow string peers, Jazzly is the only violinist involved with ASU’s jazz program. She has taken classes in jazz piano and improvisation and is continuing her jazz studies with ASU teaching assistant and jazz pianist, Zach Wiggins. In addition to studying improv and joining a jazz combo, Jazzly also has an interest in bluegrass and old-time fiddle music. These experiences have led Miss Moné to join an alternative country band, and to organize a more traditional bluegrass and old-time band. Jazzly is currently involved with Duo Varia, her violin/guitar duo, and decker., a 7-piece “psychedelic desert-folk” band. In addition to performing, Miss Moné is currently teaching through ASU’s String Project, a program that provides affordable lessons to children in the Phoenix area. An advocate for encouraging creativity and improvisation along with classical studies, Jazzly is actively performing and collaborating with other artists in a variety of music genres. She has a private teaching studio, and teaches alternative styles to the next generation of string players.
